DSC_8402Dear Families and Friends,

It has been an exciting session so far, and with a little over one week under our belt we have experienced so many things in such a short amount of time. Every unit has gone on an overnight, with some units getting the opportunity to go on two-night overnights (Troubadours did a service project on Lopez Island, Mountaineers went rock climbing near Mt Erie, and Vagabonds went to Helsell Farms).  Even with a fire ban in effect, the food on overnights has been delicious – and the destinations and camaraderie make overnights really special and memorable.

DSC_8275The Troubies and Mountaineers have had some time to spend with their Archer/Explorer Buddies, getting to know them and doing some dancing and other activities together. We can hardly believe that tomorrow night will already be time for the Farewell Campfire for our youngest units! Since Sunday is packing day for the four oldest units who will be leaving on Monday to go on their Big Trips, we are planning many things to honor these young campers. We are definitely savoring these remaining days with them and plan on making their time memorable and jam-packed with fun.

DSC_8156Camp’s weekly activities have been buzzing, from ropes course to archery, adobe to waterfront, Trader Horn to showers, schedules are full of fun and the weather has been perfect. Also included in these activities are hand-building in the clay room, spirited singing in the lodge, traditional camp dances and even a few competitive games of gaga. And then there’s the fun task of bringing laundry to the craft shop porch – everyone loves clean clothes! 🙂

DSC_8367We are celebrating Island Fair Day today, complete with pie baking, milk carton boat making, booth building and sign-making. We’re about to do a fun run followed by a waterfront regatta extravaganza. It’s a perfect day for it – and the full moon rising tonight will be a wonderful backdrop to our festive carnival down on Mission Point. Count on some good pictures coming your way soon!

Happy almost August – and we hope you’re enjoying your time at home and in the warm summer sun. We’re all having the time of our lives! Please keep the letters coming to your campers – it makes a world of difference and they love knowing that you’re thinking about them.

In the Spirit of Camp –

Sheila and the Nor’wester Team
