Hello Friends and Families,

Much has happened since the last posting, including our Big Trips returning, Visitor’s Weekend, Little Big Trips and the the beginning of Olympic Games. There is action around every corner and many life lessons being learned…from cleaning dishes after an overnight to being conscious of the importance of gratitude to helping out a friend who’s having a hard time. Activity time has been full and busy, with crafters busily working on projects, skilled eyes aiming for achievement in archery, and units participating in growth-inspiring team building initiatives with the ropes course staff.

There is so much creative choice here at camp, whether it’s in a program area, like the wood shop, or in hosting a campfire or chapel. Through all of these opportunities, campers get the ability to shine and offer  their insight, experience and inspiration to a whole new set of peers and adults.

The four oldest units – Troubadors, Mountaineers, Wayfarers, Islanders – recently participated in the annual Coffee House. It was hosted by the Mountaineers with a theme of “Coal Mine” – complete with headlamps, workwear, dirty faces, and even a canary (as seen below).

Many fine talents were shared throughout the evening…songs, skits, rap, improv and more!

The Troubadors – ready to head into the Coal Mine.

And at the end of the day, after all of the activities and trips and special events and excellent meals, camp is mainly about the friends we’re making and the special and intentional community we are creating together. The Nor’wester magic lives on…

Time really does fly when we’re having fun – we only have a few more days with these wonderful campers!  We know you are all excited to see them on Sunday — and we are grateful for the opportunity to create this engaged and jubilant community together — so thank you for sharing your children with us. We will have one final post before the end of the session, so we’ll be back in touch soon.

Warm Days and Ocean Breezes –

Sheila
