Dear Families and Friends,

Our second session is off to a brilliant start, with a full week under our belt and memories already being made. Orientation Day and our Introductory Campfire already seem like such a long time ago. Units had a chance to visit the departments at camp and learn about all things Nor’wester, then introduced themselves at Campfire by using their names and where they’re from incorporated into a skit. There were some very clever stories, songs, raps and skits and we all shared some good laughs.

All units went on an overnight on the third night of camp, cooking over fires and stoves, making pita pizzas, silver dollars, egg-in-a-hole and more. Campers also learned how to build tarp shelters, practice LNT (Leave No Trace) principles, and had an opportunity to sleep under the stars.

We are fortunate to have diverse and creative programming available everyday, thanks to our amazing staff. From improv on our drama stage to archery to wet exits on the waterfront, there always seems to be something new to experience. Our two gardeners have even been hosting tea parties, complete with freshly harvested flowers and herbs picked by the campers.

We love Sundays at camp because we get to sleep in a little bit later, have some reflection time at Chapel Rock, enjoy a ‘Sunday dinner’ at lunch time and an entertaining Musicale. The afternoon brings open activities of choice, such as craft shop, frisbee golf, soccer, ropes course and board games. Each unit also ends the day with a Nosebag dinner hike to a beautiful spot on the island.

And now we are just enjoying being in the swing of camp life together, preparing for another overnight this week and then Island Fair Day on Friday. The music after meals has been lively and engaging, the weather top-notch, and tipi living is at its finest, combining just the right amount of comfort with rustic living. We are definitely living the good life!

Back in touch soon ~

Sheila
