Visitors 1Visitors’ Days

One weekend per session, parents and families are invited to visit the camp property and spend the afternoon with their camper. Transportation to Johns is offered from two locations for a fee: Skyline Marina, Anacortes, WA or Roche Harbor, WA.

All families of enrolled campers will receive detailed information about Visitors’ Days in the spring of each year.

Transportation Options

From Anacortes: (RESERVATIONS REQUIRED) From Anacortes Skyline Marina: A direct boat shuttle from Skyline Marina to Johns Island. Boarding starts at 9:30 and the boat will leave Anacortes at 10am. The trip takes 2 hours. The boat will leave the same day from Johns Island at 5pm. Tickets: $79.00 (per person).

From Roche Harbor: (RESERVATIONS REQUIRED) From Roche Harbor, WA (San Juan Island). A direct boat from Roche Harbor Marina to Johns Island. Boats will leave between 11am-noon. By Private Boat: Parents are welcome to use their own boat to travel to Visitors’ Day. Please call the camp office (360-472-1382) no later than a week before your visit, to tell us when you will arrive and which camper you will be visiting. All boats are to drop anchor in front of South Beach and a member of our waterfront staff will come out to get you in a camp boat. Families are NOT to operate camp boats (i.e. canoes, kayaks, Hunt canoes or sail boats).

By Air: Kenmore Air (800-543-9595) and Island Air Charters (888-378-2376) offer direct charted flights from Seattle to Roche Harbor. Sea plane charters also fly to Johns Island but you must be in contact with the office prior to arrival (no later than a week before your visit).

Due to our location and the logistics involved in visiting, the above dates are the only approved dates for visiting the island.

Alumni and Prospective Families Visit Options

We do welcome alumni and families to visit the camp property during the summer months. All visitors must be approved by the camp office at least one week in advance. We are not always able to accommodate visitors and cannot promise a boat shuttle to pick you up in Roche Harbor. Please contact or call (360) 472-1382 between June 1 and August 30 for information and to schedule a visit.
