Second session campers are on the property and they are busy.  Thirteen Units will visit 12 different departments/areas for Orientation Day.  I hesitate to say it, but it looks like summer today!  Good weather and soft off shore breezes help to make this ‘getting to know departments” day a bit easier.  Campers will also visit the Health Center for a start-up screening and to meet our health care staff.

The first overnight is tomorrow, with four units leaving the island.  Troubadors will be going to Lopez Island for a two-day service trip, Mountaineers will paddle Hunt canoes to Satellite Island, Wayfarers will visit Helsell Farm on Orcas and Islanders will kayak to San Juan Island.  The rest of the units will enjoy camping out on various site on Johns Island.  While any site can be easily accessed in a matter of minutes, our trail system will allow units to enjoy a good hike around parts of our 135 acres before they reach their destination.   Camp Property

It is a short week – normal activities will happen Friday morning and Saturday afternoon, overnights Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.  Sunday is a more relaxed schedule, with breakfast at 8:30am, unit clean-up/relax time until Chapel at 11:00am, our mid-day dinner at 1:00pm, followed by Musicale and open activities for the afternoon.  Sack lunches will be enjoyed at some picturesque location on the property around 5:30pm, followed by groups games such as soccer, capture the flag or perhaps a dance in the lodge.

I’ll give you the details in a couple of days.
