Hiring for the 2017 season will begin in January, but feel free to apply as early as November or December – you can have one less thing to think about over the winter holidays. All applications are submitted online via the button on this page.

You will need to create a CampInTouch account which will allow you to access your application later and, if hired, will be your portal to all required employment paperwork.

Online Application

Before starting, make sure you have all of your contact and previous employment information, as well as the names and contact details for three references handy. You will need this info to complete the application.

New staff applicants will be asked to provide contact information for three individuals to serve as references for you. Upon submission of your application, those contacts will receive an email link to complete the Reference Form. At least two must be received by the Camp before an application will be given serious review. Reference forms should be completed by an employer or teacher, preferably one who has first-hand knowledge of your ability to work with children. Please do not have immediate family members or friends complete these forms.

Returning staff who have not worked for one summer or more since their last employment with camp will also need to submit references. Please email us at norwester@rockisland.com with the name, email, and relationship of your reference after you’ve completed your application.

Disclosure Form/Authorization for Background Check

All applicants must complete an Authorization for Background Check form every year. This form is available to you in your CampInTouch account upon completion of your application. We rarely review applications for applicants that have not completed this form.

Interview Process

Applicants being seriously considered for a position will be contacted to schedule an interview – new and returning staff alike. We will go over positions available, talk about your best fit at camp and set up a follow-up plan for making a final decision. The interview is a two-way process: we want to be sure you’re a good fit for our community so it’s just as much a time for you to ask questions as it is for us to ask questions of you. Be prepared!
