They’re back! Our Foresters and Voyageurs have been out of Camp on Little Big Trips for four days this week, and we’re so glad to have them back with us safe and sound. Our intrepid bicyclists, sailors, and hikers have already regaled us with amazing tales from their Little Big Trip experiences, and we’re savoring the opportunity to hear all about our campers’ adventures!

Foresters and Voyageurs participated in sailing, biking, and backpacking Little Big Trips.

Similar to our Big Trip program, the Little Bigs build on the camping, outdoor living, and technical skills foundations that our overnight and activity programs impart to campers via an intentionally graduated curriculum. The four-night structure of the Little Bigs leads directly into the five-night schedule of the Big Trips. Many campers and staff aver that the Little Bigs offer an even greater challenge to participants than the Big Trips do, since they represent campers’ first extended outcamp trip, incorporating sailing, hiking, or cycling techniques along with outdoor living, cooking, and camping skills. Participants can expect to be pushed in new ways – and to achieve new heights of accomplishment and discovery.

Outcamp experiences offer campers the opportunity to hone their camping and outdoor living skills.

This session’s Little Bigs did not disappoint. Despite ferry delays, schedule adjustments, and other challenges, our determined campers and committed staff members persevered and were rewarded with some memorable trips. Returning at Camp yesterday, all of our Little Big participants were happy to have had their outcamp experiences and, at the same time, grateful to be back. We’re so proud of our Little Big Trippers and pleased to have all of our campers back with us – we couldn’t kick off Olympic Games without our Voyageurs and Foresters!
