First Session ended last week with a raucous All-Camp Dance and emotional goodbyes. The last meals in the lodge are bittersweet; campers are tired from two days filled with Olympic Games competitions between the Red Team and Blue Team, excited to head home, and sad to leave their friends. The Red Team finished the weekend with a close win after song competitions, cheers, tug o’ wars, kickball, and various other competitions.

Wednesday night’s dinner during the Olympic Games was a salmon bake!

Yesterday, Unit Leaders greeted their campers on the mainland before boarding boats to Camp. On the boats, campers spent time catching up with older friends and starting to make new ones. Once at Camp, it was time to settle into tents and get to know the people they will be living alongside for the next month. The bonding continued through dinner and into the evening in every unit.

The unit system is a central part of the Nor’wester experience. The first few days of the session focus on providing units space to bond before the schedule picks up for Island Fair Day, Big Trips, and overnights.

This evening, the whole camp is gathered for a campfire, during which each camper can creatively introduce themselves to the community. The Kitchen Staff are hosting with a set of short Cinderella Camp Kitchen-themed skits to introduce each unit’s skit.
