Last Saturday and Sunday, we welcomed many of our campers’ family and friends to Johns Island for Visitors’ Weekend! Sea planes, barges, and boats came and went throughout the weekend as almost 300 visitors arrived to visit their campers. Groups of picnickers covered Mission Point, while others walked the property or reconnected with Camp friends in the Lodge. Happy reunions between campers and loved ones could be seen wherever you looked! While it was hard to say goodbye at the end of the weekend, we’re so appreciative of everyone who made the trip to join us at Camp.

Second Session Visitors' Weekend

Our campers were very excited to reunite with their friends and family during Visitors’ Weekend!

After our visitors departed on Saturday evening, it was time for Opry House. Our drama instructor and young dramatists have worked diligently for the past three weeks preparing skits and monologues for the event. Two stages were set up, including our “Hidden Hollow” area in the forest, which was draped with twinkling fairy lights for an enchanting effect. All of our performers were outstanding, and the whole Camp enjoyed a fantastic evening of poetry, drama, and comedy.

Second Session Opry House

Opry House’s Hidden Hollow Stage was an enchanting venue for the theatrical creativity of our campers and staff.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend of celebration. Our campers loved seeing their family and friends and giving them tours of the island, their units, and their favorite departments and activities. And the whole Camp loved seeing the talent and passion poured out by our Opry House performers. So many fantastic things have already happened at Camp over the past few weeks – and there’s still so much fun left in store for the last week of Second Session!
