Camp is strangely quiet this afternoon, even as the gulls call to one another and the waves lap against the shore. But there are no campers chatting and joking along Mission Point as they head to activities, exclaiming with delight as their toes touch the water down on South Beach, or filling the Lodge with laughter and music. Our Second Session campers have left us, and Johns Island is not the same without them.

Early this morning, the campers boarded the departure boats, sailing away from Johns and towards their reunions with family and friends. We are sad to see them go, but also grateful for the shining month we got to spend with them, surrounded by nature and embraced by this beautiful Camp community that stretches far beyond this island and the precious weeks we shared here.

Thank you for all the memories, Second Session campers! We hope that you will carry the spirit of Nor’wester with you wherever your path may lead.
