Our First Session campers will be arriving on Johns Island in less than 24 hours! While preparations at camp continue, our intrepid travel staff have departed the island, ready to escort our campers from their drop-off locations all the way back to camp tomorrow.

Our travel staff are excited to meet our First Session campers and bring them to camp!

With our Office Administrator Kathleen at the helm, our travel staff will manage all the logistics of getting 170 campers and their trunks safely to camp. After traveling to Seattle and spending the night there, staff will be dispersing to various drop-off points bright and early tomorrow morning.

Some travel staff will drive all the way to Sea-Tac airport to meet flights and collect luggage, while others will convene at Meridian Elementary School north of Seattle, where many families will be dropping off their campers tomorrow morning. Buses from the airport and the school will then convey campers and staff to Skyline Marina in Anacortes, where additional camp staff will meet them and check-in more campers at that site. Finally, everyone will board charter boats at the marina for the last leg of the journey: the scenic boat ride to Johns Island!

Travel staff are on their way!

After sending our travel staff off with sack lunches and well-wishes this morning, the rest of us at camp have been putting our finishing touches on the Lodge, the units, and all the department areas. Everyone is eager for our campers to arrive, and we’re channeling that energy into the final tasks that remain.

Even with all the anticipation, it’s still a little hard to believe that tomorrow evening our campers will be here with us. So much hard work and preparation has led up to the campers’ arrival, and now it’s so close – and getting closer every minute. We can’t wait to welcome our First Session campers tomorrow and kick off the camp season together!
