The countdown to First Session continues, and the pace at Camp is picking up. Twenty-five additional Summer Staff members arrived on Johns last night, bringing the total of pre-Camp participants to sixty. Many department trainings are taking place, while work crews are performing all sorts of preparations across the property.

Boats are returning to the Waterfront!

On South Beach, the Waterfront Staff are setting up the cabana area, getting ready for trainings and safety inspections. The kayaks and Picos are emerging from their winter storage – soon there will boats on the water again!

Meanwhile, tipis continue to spring up all over Camp! Our tipi-pitching crew has been setting up unit after unit, and the pile of waiting canvases in the Lodge grows smaller every day. It seems like every time you turn around, new tipis have popped up across the landscape like large, lovely wildflowers!

Our tipi-pitching crews not only do an impressive job, they have a great sense of humor, too!

Although we are all working on different projects in various areas, everyone convenes at meal times in the Lodge. The wake-up and jumper bells are ringing out, calling us all to come together. Friendships are forming, goals for the summer are being set, and smiles and laughter are everywhere.

Slowly at first, then quicker and larger, all of these individual ripples are merging together to create a new dynamic, a fresh energy, and a rekindled excitement all across the Island. It’s a great time to be at Camp, and we can’t wait to welcome the rest of our Staff next week!
