We’re halfway through Staff Training here at Camp, and everyday we’re preparing for the arrival of our campers. Our First Session kids will be here in just six days! Although we have tasks to complete ahead of their arrival, the vibe at Camp is one of excitement and anticipation.

All across the island, staff are getting in the swing of things as far as their roles and department areas go. Waterfront staff are running through their lessons and procedures down on South Beach. Up at Trader Horn, our Camp store, goodies and supplies are going up on the shelves. Costumes are being laundered and sorted in the Drama department, while our Music department prepares songs and readies instruments for our communal sing-a-longs. At the same time, our Camp Ops crew is ensuring that our facilities are safe and clean.

Julian and Nikki Kitchen Staff

Our fantastic Kitchen Staff is ready to feed the whole Camp!

Meanwhile, the Unit Leaders are planning introductory activities for their campers. The Outdoor Cooking director is setting up the adobe oven and firepit as our Gardeners are getting our garden area ready for the summer growing season. The Archery, Challenge Course, and Climbing Wall staff are preparing their equipment and activities, while our Craft Shop instructors are making sure that all of their supplies and work areas are in ship-shape. And on and on…

Naturalist preparing with Staff

Our Naturalist is preparing for campers’ arrival by sharing nature notes with the staff.

So much is going on as we all get ready for the first day of Camp! We can’t wait to welcome our campers and share all of these activities and offerings with them.
