Here we go!

Our First Session campers arrive on Johns Island tomorrow! Although we’ve been keeping our sights set on that milestone throughout Staff Training, the imminence of campers’ arrival only truly started to sink in this morning, when our gallant crew of 30 travel staff departed from Camp.

Over the next 24 hours, they’ll journey to Seattle and back, returning with 170 campers (and their trunks!) in tow. It’s quite the logistical feat, organizing teams and timing for arrivals at SeaTac airport, the North Seattle bus location, and the marina in Anacortes. Needless to say, months of planning go into developing our travel plans! Spearheading the entire process from beginning to end is Kathleen, our Office Administrator. She accompanies our teams the whole way, ensuring that all campers and their belongings arrive safely at Camp.

Travel staff departure

Our travel staff departing on the barge, eager and excited to welcome our First Session campers!

After sending our travel staff off with sack lunches and well-wishes, the rest of us at Camp have been putting our finishing touches on the Lodge, the units, and all the department areas. Nearly everything is prepared – and our campers’ arrival is so close! Just one more day, and we’ll all be together here on Johns to kick off the Camp season.

Grayson preparing travel lunches

Smiles and sandwiches from our Kitchen Staff made a great send-off for our travel teams.

Meanwhile, we’re eagerly awaiting updates from our travel teams as they meet our campers and bring them to join us. We can’t wait to welcome our First Session campers tomorrow with open arms and open hearts!
